The Open
Hyperliquid opens 11 tokenized US stock and ETF markets at 09:30 ET today, the first listing for issuer EQX. The tokens are 1:1 backed claims, BVI limited-recourse notes on shares at Alpaca, StoneX and Clear Street, no US persons. On the regulated side, OKXICE lost six more issuers on Oct 23; 22 of its 62 companies have now said no.
THE 3AM LINE: rwa.xyz's distributed value rose about $80M to $3.53B on Oct 25, Polymarket did not move, and EQX's 11 books sat empty.
Top of the Tape
- Hyperliquid lists 11 EQX tokenized stock and ETF markets today, with order matching set for 09:30 ET, the US open. Translation: EQX tokens are 1:1 backed claims structured as limited-recourse debt notes from a BVI segregated portfolio company, so you hold a note on a share, not the share. SPY, QQQ, NVDA, TSLA, AAPL, MSFT, AMZN, GOOG, META, MU and SpaceX, priced in USDC, no US persons. (TokenPost; KuCoin; DefiPrime)
- Twenty-two of OKXICE's 62 issuers have objected, after Wells Fargo, Cisco, Intuit, Arm, Moderna and Marvell joined on Oct 23. Translation: OKXICE is the NYSE-owner and OKX joint venue filed under the SEC's innovation exemption; the exemption lets an issuer block third-party tokens of its stock. The count ran 9 on Oct 15, 16 on Oct 19, 22 on Oct 23, and no issuer gives a reason. (Decrypt; FinanceFeeds; OKXICE notice, Oct 23)
- The same notice says OKXICE applies no circuit breakers or reference-price bands beyond underlying halts, has no MEV policy, and its SBT contract carries only an internal audit. Translation: MEV is profit from reordering transactions; the venue says its design "substantially mitigates but does not eliminate" it. The Hook contract gets an external audit by Certified Kernel Tech before launch. (OKXICE notice, Oct 23)
- xStocks' on-chain market cap is $886M per Crypto Briefing's Oct 25 read, up 802.5% in a year, with 1,300-plus assets on 11 chains and $40B cumulative volume. Translation: xStocks are 1:1 backed claims, Jersey tracker certificates from Backed, now owned by Kraken's parent. The headline says $1B, the body says $886M, rwa.xyz says $610.9M; three numbers, one product. (Crypto Briefing; rwa.xyz) The order books opened before the issuers did. Only one of those is a product.
Chart of the Day
"The objection ladder." A step chart of OKXICE issuers objecting over time, out of the 62 companies named, with the Oct 4 filing as zero and a dotted reference line at 62; each step labeled with the names that joined.
Data points: Oct 4, 0 (filing on the SEC TSV register); Oct 15, 9 (AppLovin, Applied Digital, Rocket Lab, CoreWeave, Verizon, Applied Optoelectronics, Broadcom, UnitedHealth, Cerebras); Oct 19, 16 (adds Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, Western Digital); Oct 23, 22 (adds Arm, Wells Fargo, Moderna, Cisco, Intuit, Marvell). Sources: OKXICE notice, Oct 23; FinanceFeeds, Oct 24; Decrypt, Oct 25; SEC TSV register. Annotation: 16 of the 22 are Nasdaq-listed, 6 NYSE-listed (FinanceFeeds, Oct 24).
Flow Watch
- Weekend tape: distributed value $3.53B from $3.45B on Oct 23 (+$80M, our subtraction); 30-day transfer volume $10.00B from $10.37B; active addresses 1.87M from 1.79M (rwa.xyz, Oct 25).
- Issuers: bStocks $1.3B (from $1.2B), Ondo $899.1M (from $888.6M), xStocks $610.9M (from $614.0M), Securitize $268.2M (from $272.4M). bStocks and xStocks are backed claims, Ondo Global Markets a tracker, Securitize an authorized share (rwa.xyz, Oct 25).
- DeFiLlama seven-day flows: xStocks +4.56%, Ondo +1.61%, Securitize −1.67%, Superstate −10.16%; bStocks prints +169%, which looks like a data reset. DeFi active TVL: xStocks $115.46M, Superstate $110.68M, Ondo $105.31M (DeFiLlama, Oct 25).
- Top tokens, change column unlabeled: SECZ $208.6M, −52.81%; CRCLB $156.4M, −7.62%; SPCXB $151.8M, −0.36% (rwa.xyz, Oct 25). SECZ last close $7.77 on Oct 23 (MarketBeat).
- EQX: 11 markets registered on Hyperliquid, zero volume at Oct 25 (KuCoin).
- Mints, redemptions, whale moves, premiums or discounts: nothing reported Oct 24–26. Weekend share: not reported; September weekends ran $3.96B of DEX volume (Crypto Briefing, Oct 5).
The Rulebook
US. Changed at the venue, not the rule. OKXICE's Oct 23 notice lists 22 objecting issuers and its terms. Trading stops only with underlying halts and market-wide breakers. Tier 1 volume is capped at 0.25% of prior-month ADV across 75 symbols, Tier 2 at 2.5% across 250; a second breach means a three-month pause (OKXICE notice, Oct 23). The SEC's TSV register still shows three venues, last updated Oct 21 (SEC). SIFMA's Oct 19 letter asks the SEC to settle issuer consent and volume limits before venues open (SIFMA). For a holder: a board's objection removes its stock from the venue, and no OKXICE start date is set.
EU. No change. ESMA's call for evidence on tokenisation stands, responses due Jan 15, 2027 (ESMA PDF). The Commission's MiCA review is still an assessment, not a proposal (The Block, updated Oct 19).
Other. Changed. EQX issues from a BVI segregated portfolio company owned by a Cayman purpose trust; the notes are not SIPC-covered and are closed to US and BVI persons (DefiPrime). For a holder: your claim is against one ticker's portfolio, redeemable in shares, and only through an authorized participant.
Deal Flow
- EQX Labs: first venue Hyperliquid; custody at Alpaca Securities, StoneX Financial and Clear Street; revenue is a share of Hyperliquid's spot fees, no issuer fees (Crowdfund Insider, Oct 15; DefiPrime).
- OKXICE: external Hook-contract audit by Certified Kernel Tech LLC before launch (OKXICE notice, Oct 23).
- Aave: a reported "Equities Hub" on Base lending USDC against Coinbase's non-US tokenized stocks, 1:1 backed claims; TechFlow report via Cobo, not confirmed by Aave (Cobo, Oct 18).
- No raises, hires or M&A in tokenized public equities found for Oct 24–26. Set aside: MarketBeat's SECZ page carries a Pomerantz "investor alert" dated Oct 22, a law-firm solicitation, not a filing (MarketBeat).
The Playbook (Pro)
Measure EQX's first session before you trade it. Creation is in kind and limited to authorized participants. So the on-chain price has an anchor only while APs can arbitrage, 09:30 to 16:00 ET. EQX's own documentation says nothing pins the price outside those hours. The useful work is the ruler: log the EQNVDA to NVDA spread at 09:35, 12:00 and 16:05 ET. Run the same ticker on bStocks and xStocks. Inside 50 basis points through the close means a working AP. Outside it, the week's story writes itself.
RISK LINE: EQX tokens are unsecured limited-recourse notes from a BVI issuer, not SIPC-covered, not redeemable by ordinary holders, and the books are hours old.
Odds
Polymarket, "First to list tokenized stocks in the US?": Robinhood 37%, no listing by Dec 31, 2027 36.3%, Coinbase 12.5%, Kraken 5.9%, Gemini 4%; volume $90,248, unchanged from Oct 24. Coinbase ladder ($8,169): by Oct 31, 3%; by Dec 31, 20%; by Mar 31, 2027, 31%; by Jun 30, 2027, 55%, unchanged. No Kalshi market found. The book slept through the weekend. The issuers' lawyers did not.
Sign-off
Hyperliquid opens at the bell, OKXICE keeps losing names, and the tape added $80M while you slept. That's the tape. The bell isn't ringing.
Corrections and disclosures
No corrections to the Oct 24 issue came up. The OKXICE objection count is new to this newsletter; the Oct 15 and Oct 19 waves above are background.
